With this kind of skin type, nothing much I can do but to treat it gently and soothe the redness humanly possible with lots of patience and hope. Some people might think oily skin type do not require moisturizer as it will cause the skin more oily than it is. Actually they are wrong. I read a lot of articles, talk to my dermatologist and Clinique Sales Assistant about this matter, all of them agree that oily skin do need as much moisture as dry skin type of girl need. The difference is only, oily skin type is more suitable to oil-free moisturizer that does not clog pores.
Oily skin has a lot of sebum under the epidermis. But it does not mean it has adequate water content too. If the skin is looking dull and you feel like having dry patches at some part of your face, chances are it needs more water. If you are the kind who loves to exfoliate the skin regularly, chances are it needs water too. And if the skin feels tight in some area of your face, it is definitely needs water and there comes the need of a good and effective moisturizer to combat all the issues stated.
I have been advised to get myself a medicated moisturizer before however, my skin experienced severe breakouts and worsen the condition, it feels super dry although it is oily on the surface. The dry patches on my face is visible and makeup application seems very ugly on me.
I immediately went to clinic and consult with the dermatologist and I have been prescribed with Retin-A and some sort of antibiotic - I cannot remember the name of that antibiotic (sorry for my aging). My dermatologist advised me to stop using the moisturizer and asking me to get myself a sunscreen, as I need it if I am exposing to the sun during my Retin-A prescription.
My skin healed but it longing for a perfect moisturizer that actually works for my naturally oily skin. So I rewarded myself by paying a visit to Clinique counter at Plaza Pelangi, Johor Bahru. That was the first Clinique counter I visited and that was the love at first sight with Clinique brands - somewhere in 2005. I had my skin diagnosed by the Sales Assistant and she given me Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel which also popularly known as DDMG - as I am having skin type 3 according to Clinique.
Clinique claims that the 'moisture drink' developed by their dermatologist is oil-free to maintain optimal moisture balance for skin, comfortable in the cheeks but oily in T-zone. The oily formula is said to softens, smooth and improves the skin condition. They also claims it works to improves skin texture and condition after cleansing and clarifying with their 3-steps formula. It is 100% oil-free and allergy tested.

I love the packaging of this moisturizer, it is packed in sturdy plastic bottle and has pump to ensure the hygiene of the products and for me, it is easier to control the amount of product I need at a time. It is a fragrance free gel type lotion in sweet corn yellow color. The texture is gel like, not thick, not runny - just right as moisturizer, easily absorb into the skin and I do not experience any tacky feeling upon application. It is just perfect.
Just like my other moisturizer, I apply it twice a day, AM and PM as part of my skincare routine after the cleansing. The only good thing about applying this in the AM, I do not need any primer before applying my makeup, this moisturizer is enough to give me glow. This is one my favorite moisturizer in my skincare regime as it makes my skin smoother and hydrated almost immediately after applying it. I do not need to wait for minutes for the gel to absorb into the skin and it never feels greasy or create any shining drama on my face. A pea size (in the picture) is enough to be applied to my entire face. It makes my skin feels so soft, well rested and nourishes with a healthy glow even though I am not wearing any makeup. It also does not leave any residue or masked feeling on my skin.
Thank Allah this stuff does not caused me any breakouts and the oil-free and fragrance free formula is simply excellent! It also last a day and keep my skin supple and dewy. I am experiencing a slight shines during a hot weather especially when I am staying outside more than usual but it does not bother me at all. I am recommending this DDMG to those with oily skin and looking for a decent moisturizer to give a go and experience it yourself. This stuff definitely change your entire life.
DDMG is available at all Clinique counters nationwide and website, and retail for RM74 for 50ml and RM156 for 125ml (with pump).
