Oh My Seaweed! | Mario Badescu Seaweed Midnight Cream

I'm sure so many of you heard about a skincare brand - Mario Badescu; a Romanian born skincare specialist with a bold vision.

" Being both a chemist and a cosmetologist, Mario had a very unique perspective about skin care, appreciating both the chemical nature and complexities of the skin, as well as the desire and innate satisfaction and confidence that healthy, clean, radiant skin can give a person.

Mario opened his salon in New York City in 1967 and began to develop his signature skin care product line. The effectiveness of these products and his unparalleled European-style facials did not remain a secret --- before long, Mario was rubbing shoulders with the most famous actors, actresses, and celebrities of his day, as they looked to his products and salon as New York City's very own fountain of youth. "

I read and hear a lot about Mario Badescu skincare products which are excellent in acne treatment and helps so many people who struggles with cystic acne. Today's post is about my recent purchase on Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream.

Before I begin, let me describe a little bit about the packaging and the pricing of this product. I have done some research before confirming this purchase from Luxola - with a gift card given to me on my previous purchased. Reviews on this product was positive and promising which convinced me to get myself a jar of this night creams. When I received my parcel, I am not surprised by the decent packaging, because I am well informed that Mario Badescu skincare does not invest in fancy packaging to attract the customer, but rather throw their cash in research and product development. Isn't that is more important for a cosmetic company? I guess yes! But I am not bothered by the super simple-cheap looking jar. All I want is the product does what it says. This product 29ml retail for RM83.

Coincidentally, I have running out of moisturizer and always wanting to add this famous brand into my skincare regime but I waited for months to finished my Avene Cleanance K Cream Gel. The texture of this product is quite thick but you don't need much for one application. You only need 1/3 of this product compared to your normal moisturizer. A little goes long way! But my very first experience with Mario Badescu skincare brand was not so pleasant.

The smell of this product is like grandma perfume or whatever similar smell you can think of. For me, the smell is quite distracting but it is gone after minutes. Phew! Yes, I do feel my skin get the moisture from this product till morning but it comes with BONUS - breakouts!

This product claims,

"Hydrates skin while you sleep - with our lightweight, oil-free night cream. Elastin, Collagen, and Hyaluronic Acid combine with the vitamins and minerals found in Bladderwrack Extract to nourish dehydrated skin. The result is smooth, dewy, younger-looking skin overnight."

According to Mario Badescu, this cream is suitable for those with Combination, Oily or Sensitive skin. So it should work on me too. No? And yes, it is a lightweight cream despite it is thick in texture; I did not feel the product sits on my skin. In the morning, my skin did not feel or look oily (thank you), well rested and moisturized but I have to admit I did not feel any younger-looking skin overnight. Poor me.

Ingredients of this product as stated below,

Aqua (Water,Eau),Glycerin,Isopropyl Myristate,Stearic Acid,Propylene Glycol,Cetyl Alcohol,Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Hydrolyzed ElastinCollagen,Sodium Hyaluronate,Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer,Carbomer,Parfum (Fragrance),Sodium Chloride,Phenoxyethanol,Potassium Sorbate,Methylparaben,Propylparaben,Sodium Benzoate,Triethanolamine,Diazolidinyl Urea,Mica,CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide),CI 19140 (Yellow 5),CI 42090 (Blue 1),CI 77288 (Chromium Oxide Green)

How I apply? I dab this cream on my face after my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair (of course, I have cleansed my face before the serum). I am not so sure if this cream interact with the ANR serum that caused breakouts in the next morning. But I do believe yes - well maybe yes maybe no. I am so disappointed that this product did not do its job and I decided to stop for a while till the breakouts gone. At the moment I did not get myself any new night moisturizer but to give my skin a short break while I treating the recent acne. Sad.

It is getting late at night (3.11am here in my country) and I am going to hit the bed anytime soon. Give yourself a try, who knows your experience is far better than me. For your info this product has been featured in media too, so it must be good for majority of people. Maybe just me. Sad again.

Till then, good night!
