REVIEW | Dear Packer Royal Black Tea & Black Rose Mask

Hi! It's been a few days since my last post and I am eager to review one of my favourite wash off mask which is said to be a perfect dupe for Fresh Rose Face Mask. I've tried and like the Fresh one before but looking at the price tag, I'm not sure if I could maintain such a high price tag in the long run. So, I did some research and it's been a long overdue decision to get me buying the product as I'm afraid it won't work better or at least at par as Fresh.

My skin gets a little dry lately especially at the cheek - not sure if it could relate to the current weather, here in Malaysia. We have unexpected weather lately and most of the time, cold and rainy - never snow for sure. Haha! So I decided to get myself a mask that could subsidise some hydration into my skin beside the normal moisturiser. And then I found a beautiful packaging of the Dear Packer Royal Black Tea & Black Rose Mack at the Korean skincare store - The Face Shop.

Now, let's take a moment to appreciate the Instagram worthy packaging of this mask. It feels fun at the same time luxurious - really couldn't tell if it actually a Korean brand.

So what it is?
A gel type mask contains 77% Black Tea and Black Rose Water with a total 35% of Black Tea and 35% of black Rose extract. Black teas are well known for it's powerful anti-oxidant properties while the rose are known for it's powerful moisture charge. The beautiful combination of black tea and black rose infusion provides a soothing, relaxing and calming effect to the skin, deep hydration and smooths the skin. It has a scent to it, to me it's like lathering a gel type of earl grey tea - some citrus-y smell in a beautiful rose water. So for those who don't like any fragrance in their skincare, this probably an issue for them.

How to use it?
Personally I've tried two different methods to apply this mask. One as a 10 minutes wash off mask and two as the sleeping mask. As for wash off mask, I like to lather a spoonful amount of this mask and spread all over my face - avoid the eye area. And as for the sleeping mask, I normally use a pea size to spread all over my face and leave it till morning. It is dry enough not to stain my pillow sheet. The only thing, it would leave the black particles on your face but it's removable when you wash your face in the morning. Well, what is beauty without a little silliness on yourself? Hahaha.. This mask is easy to remove, you just have to massage your skin with lukewarm water or use a face cloth to remove it then rinse with cold water.

Who would enjoy this mask?
Honestly, anyone - all skin types would enjoy this mask as much as you enjoy the Fresh Rose Face Mask, but in my humble opinion, it is best suited to oily and combination skin type as it won't leave your skin feeling oily - just hydration. I've also run the ingredient list into CosDNA for analysis and it did not contains any ingredients that could potentially clogged the pores. So it's great for acne/blemish prone skin too.

Storage
I like to keep this type of mask in the fridge as I enjoy the super cool feeling when it contacts to my skin - especially during hot season. Keeping it in the fridge also helps to preserve all the anti-oxidant in the ingredients a little bit longer.

Result
An immediate result I can tell is, it does give me the hydration I need, leaving my skin feeling smooth, fresh, bright and pores looking small and tight. It does not makes my face feels and looks oily in the morning, break me out or anything nasty. After two weeks of usage, I noticed that it does improve my skin texture, soften the fine lines and pores are less visible due to moisturising properties it has.

I learned the same brand has a lot of sheet masks with wonderful ingredients, it's also has the same kind of packaging to this but a clay type. I really enjoy the Royal Black, I would definitely get myself the clay one to try soon. So that's it. Till I write again! XO
